About the Artist
Tamara Scott Anderson, Artist Statement
I have been working as an artist for over 30 years. With contemplative intention, I bring together a blend of weaving, dying, stitching and beading to create unique 3-dimensional textile wall sculptures. My subjects include expressionistic desert landscapes, desert flowers and other botanical subjects.
I have always had a passion for fabrics and textures, which led to the development of my own distinctive form of 3-dimensional, fiber, wall sculptures. My textural compositions and impressionistic, patterning are rich in depth, created with multiple layers of beading and stitching embellishment. My distinctive technique takes my woven wall sculptures beyond craft into the realm art.
My materials list includes hand dyed & printed fabrics, commercial fabrics, trims, and beads. I have also begun utilizing material that I rescue/reclaim from the streets and washes of Tucson. Learn more about my Rescued/Reclaimed Collection at TamaraArt.com
