Artist Bio

Fifty years ago with an art school background in drawing and painting, I embarked on a career in handweaving, with an emphasis on tapestry and decorative handweaving, employing Swedish looms including a 55 shaft damask loom. Along the way I apprenticed with a Swedish weaver and studied with indiginous weavers in Peru and Guatemala.

Description of Medium

My weavings are made of natural fiibers, mostly linen and permanently mothproofed wool, handwoven on traditional Swedish looms. The work is both geometric and fiigurative utilizing Scandinavian techniques, a slow process, the reward being the knowledge that beauty will emerge from the loom. Best of all I do not need electricity to run my looms.
