About the Artist
Stephani is an artist, writer, and chronic idealist. Originally from Oregon, she is a bit of a wanderer and currently lives in the rugged beauty of the Sonoran Desert in Tucson, Arizona. As a Gemini and introvert, she is forever seeking new ways of communicating without actually talking to people. Stephani has studied art at Cornish College of the Arts and Central Saint Martins. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Washington State University, where she received awards for her writing and graduated with honors.

About the Process
Stephani has a mild obsession with the emotion and nuance of communication, which can be seen in her work. Sometimes, it involves exploring the beauty of form in figurative art. Other times, it’s breaking town text into lines and shapes, exploring the subtlety of language by exploring the shape and emotion of the letters. Stephani works in a variety of mediums, including paint, charcoal, and pencil.
Virtual Studio Tour
My current studio space consists of this single desk, which also doubles as my workspace for my regular job. Situations in this past year have forced a lot of us to change our surroundings, and I am no exception. As most of my studio is either in a storage unit here in Tucson (or in a crate in England, or in The Netherlands), I make this work.
This was my studio space last year. The hardest part about moving around is also one of my greatest skills. It's hard to constantly sort out a creative space, but it turns out, you can make almost any space into a creative workspace. The most important thing for me is figuring out a space where I can work with minimal interruptions.
As I mentioned, most of my studio is in storage somewhere, including my easel - so I haven't been able to paint much since moving to Tucson. But I like to keep my brushes out where they can watch me, where they can breathe, and where I can check in on them from time to time to let them know I haven't forgotten about them.
