From Prescriptions to Plant Portraits! Former family physician Melanie Campbell-Carter accidentally enrolled in an art class instead of a lecture — and was shocked to discover a completely unknown aptitude for drawing and painting. For the last five years, she has studied botanical art with master teachers from around the world. Now she exhibits her own paintings internationally.
Description of Medium
Botanical art is the ultimate expression of beauty in science. I paint plants because I love everything about them -- their colors, shapes, functions, details, and also their stories. My paintings are usually life-sized and painstakingly matched to the color of the living plant, and each one attempts to tell part of that plant's story. Whether using watercolor, acrylic, or other media, I hope to share a glimpse of wonder and mystery you may never have before noticed.
