Artist Bio

Matt Cotten received his MFA from the University of Arizona School of Art in 1997 and taught there until 2008. He is a multi-discipline artist working in theatre, music, sculpture, and painting. Matt is well known in Tucson for staging large scale puppet theatre presentations.

Description of Medium

Matt Cotten is currently working on large panels that combine elements of abstraction, figurative, and narrative painting. The imagery is focused on children in playgrounds, presenting an emotionally wrought look at spacial constructs meant to provide a sense of security.
