About the Artist
The beginning of a painting can take many different paths, it is often like a puzzle. Sometimes the timing is fantastic and all the pieces come together perfectly, and sometimes it takes a bit longer to work it out. As artists, we are trying to capture an essence and bring that emotional connection to the viewer.
This photo depicts the middle stage of work in "Pretty Buildings" Layers of oil paint being built up, experimentation with color fields that are soft and flowing, and finally a bit of written text in the upper corner of the painting.
This is a much closer stage of bringing all the parts of the image together, although more modifications and edits ultimately happened. Much of the artistic vision is done by standing back and looking at the painting, reassessing the composition and color, and a whole lot questioning the overall quality your work.
