Judith D Johnson is a painter living in Tucson, Arizona. She often spends her summers in Michigan where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Western Michigan University in 1973 with Bachelor of Fine Art, concentration in painting and drawing and a major in Art Education.
Judy has continued to pursue her art over the years while raising two daughters, working as a residential designer for her husband’s construction business, and an office manager for her parent’s blueberry farm. When her children were young, she concentrated on painting with watercolors and enjoyed teaching watercolor classes in the community and at elder hostels.
The desert southwest with its vibrant blue skies, intense light and shadows, and subtle colors of the earth are recurring themes in her paintings. These days she paints primarily in water miscible oils on location and often used these studies for larger studio pieces.
