Jack Davidson

South of Grant, November 9 & 10, 2019 | 10am-5pm

Artist Bio

Growing up semi isolated in rural upstate N.Y., he lived close to nature, often alone with the world of plants. Drawing occupied many days throughout childhood, later on fusing the love of plants with drawing. Educated in fine arts and printmaking at the University of Arizona and several other institutions, Jack also holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from the school of Renewable Natural Resources. This he theorizes as a living, spacial art form and has earned recognition in this field as well.
Etching became a way of creating a vehicle to a higher consciousness through a jubilation of light winning over darkness in his images.

Description of Medium

My work consists of etchings, done on zinc plates almost exclusively, (copper occasionally)using the aquatint method for any shading involved. If coloring is present it is the ala poupee method which is being utilized. Occasionally I will work with double registering the zinc plate. I also work in the relief method, linoleum or woodcut prints.
