I received a Fine Arts degree from Colorado State University in 1975. In the late 1970’s, my abstract/geometric paintings and large scale murals were purchased by the Fort Collins Public Library, Colorado State University, and a number of private companies and individuals. I returned to painting in 2008 after a 30- year career as an urban design professional.
My work has been in dozens of juried exhibits and has won a number of awards. A “Best of Show” award from the Littleton Museum led to a purchase by the museum for their permanent collection, and an invitation to present a solo exhibit. In the Tucson area, my works are available at Absolutely Art, Desert Artisans’ Gallery, and the Southern Arizona Arts Guild Gallery.
Description of Medium
My focus is on graphically vibrant, but contemplative, often large-scale acrylic paintings on panels I make from recycled materials: primarily salvaged hollow core doors and scrap lumber. I often merge abstract and representational elements and encourage the viewer to think beyond the surface to the less certain worlds beyond.
