Art has been part of my life in one form or another for as long as I can remember. Although I am a transplanted New Englander, my work is now greatly influenced by the vast expanses of land and sky in the high desert plains. In my desire to make the invisible visible, I resonate with Paul Klee’s comment “Art does not reproduce what we see. It makes us see.” In painting both landscapes and abstracts, I develop my work in layers, often utilizing materials that reflect and diffract light which create a uniquely interactive and dynamic experience. My style is painterly and intuitive and has developed over the years through professional study as well as my own research and exploration.
Description of Medium
I work in mixed media, primarily oils and acrylics. Loving color and light, I often incorporate light diffracting and reflecting materials which become dynamic and cause colors to change with the available light.
